For this shall the earth be made desolate, and the heavens above be darkened because I spoke; I purposed and did not repent, neither will I turn back from it.

And it shall come to pass in that day, said the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will cover the earth with darkness in the clear day;

Let the stars of its dawn be darkened; they waited for light, but have none; neither let them see the dawning of the day;

Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above; neither let the light shine upon it. Let darkness and the shadow of death redeem it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.
