11 Bible Verses about Deceitful Hearts

The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt. Who can know it?

if like Adam I have covered my transgressions by hiding my iniquity in my bosom because I feared the great multitude, and the contempt of families terrified me so that I kept silence, and did not go out of the door--

For there is no faithfulness in their mouth. Their inward part is very wickedness. Their throat is an open sepulcher. With their tongue they {deceive (LXX/NT)}.

Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace with their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.

They only consult to thrust him down from his dignity. They delight in lies. They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.

in whose heart is perverseness, who devises evil continually, who sows discord.

If thou say, Behold, we did not know this, Does not he who weighs the hearts consider it? And he who keeps thy soul, does he not know it? And shall not he render to every man according to his work?

Fervent lips and a wicked heart are an earthen vessel overlaid with silver dross. He who hates masquerades with his lips, but he lays up deceit within him. When he speaks graciously, believe him not, for there are seven abominations in his heart.

He feeds on ashes. A deceived heart has turned him aside. And he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

But thine eyes and thy heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for shedding innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

But evil men and impostors will go forward to worse, leading astray and being led astray.
