These things have I written to you, who believe on the name of the son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may the more firmly believe on the name of the Son of God.
but these things are written, that ye may believe, that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye may have life through his name.
For whatever things were written heretofore, were written for our instruction; that we through patience and the consolation of the scriptures might have hope.

But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and strifes and contentions about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain:
Now all these things happened to them as examples: and are written for our admonition, on whom the last ages are come.
