And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four tetrads of soldiers to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the passover.

But I make known to you, brethren, the gospel that I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you among the first things, that which I also received: That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures;

and he is the head of the body, the church: and he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in all things he might be preeminent;

He is not here; for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

But he said to them: Be not frightened; you seek Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here: see the place where they laid him.

and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are yet in your sins.
