And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them who are sanctified.
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
And that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:
That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Then had the churches rest throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, were multiplied.
How is it then, brethren? when you come together, every one of you has a psalm, has a doctrine, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end you may be established;
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man for profit.
But he that prophesies speaks unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Again, do you think that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.
But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, who is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body being fitly joined together and knit together by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
Therefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also you do.
That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
