For so the Lord has commanded us: 'I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'" When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord spread through the whole region. But the people of the city were divided; some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles. When an attempt was made by both the Gentiles and the Jews with their rulers, to mistreat them and to stone them, they became aware of it and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and to the surrounding country; and there they continued to preach the gospel. At Lystra there was a man sitting who had no strength in his feet, lame from birth, who had never walked. He listened to Paul speaking; and Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well, said with a loud voice, "Stand upright on your feet." And he leaped up and began to walk. And when the crowds saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!" Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, because he was the chief speaker, they called Hermes. The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and wanted to offer sacrifice with the crowds. But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their robes and rushed out into the crowd, crying out "Men, why are you doing this? We also are men, of like nature with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them. In past generations he allowed all the nations to go their own ways; yet he did not leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness." Even with these words, they had difficulty keeping the crowds from offering sacrifice to them. But Jews came there from Antioch and Iconium; and having won over the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead. But after the disciples had gathered around him, he got up and entered the city. And the next day he went with Barnabas to Derbe. After they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, "Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God." And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they believed.

it has seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who themselves will tell you the same things by word of mouth. For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these essentials: that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If you keep yourselves free from these, you will do well. Farewell."

Romans 12:4-8

For as in one body we have many members, and all the members do not have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith;read more.
if service, let us use it in our serving; he who teaches, in his teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

1 Corinthians 12:14-20

For the body is not made up of one member but of many. If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason be any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason be any less a part of the body.read more.
If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But now God has arranged the members in the body, each one of them, just as he desired. If they were all one member, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

1 Corinthians 12:21-26

And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you," nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you." On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and those parts of the body which we think less honorable we treat with the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, read more.
while our more presentable members have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving the greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

Galatians 2:7-8
