Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha (which is translated Dorcas). She was full of good works and acts of charity. And at that time she fell sick and died; and when they had washed her, they laid her body in an upper room. Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, having heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him, "Please come to us without delay."read more.
So Peter rose and went with them. And when he arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing the tunics and other garments that Dorcas made while she was with them.
When Jesus came to the ruler's house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd,
Then he came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And he said, "Young man, I say to you, arise."
Then he bought fine linen, took him down, and wrapped him in the linen. And he laid him in a tomb which had been hewn out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb.
So they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in strips of linen with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had ever been laid. So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, as the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.
