And fire came out from the LORD and consumed the 250 men offering the incense.

'It is because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land that he swore to give to them that he has killed them in the wilderness.'

Then he said to them, "Defile the house, and fill the courts with the slain. Go out." So they went out and struck in the city.

In the dust of the streets lie the young and the old; my young women and my young men have fallen by the sword; you have killed them in the day of your anger, slaughtering without pity.
