Surely it could have been sold for a large sum and the money given to the poor."

While He was in Bethany, He was a guest in the home of Simon the leper, and as He was sitting at table, a woman came in with an alabaster bottle of pure nard perfume, very costly; she broke the bottle and poured the perfume on His head. But some of the guests were indignantly saying to themselves, "Why was such a waste of the perfume made? It might have been sold for more than sixty dollars, and the money have been given to the poor." So they kept on grumbling at her.

Then Mary took a pound of expensive perfume, made of the purest oil, and poured it on Jesus' feet, and wiped them with her hair; and the whole house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was going to betray Him, said, "Why was this perfume not sold for sixty dollars and the money given to the poor?"read more.
He said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and as the carrier of the purse for the Twelve he was in the habit of taking what was put into it.

Now the high priest took a stand, and all his friends, the party of the Sadducees; and being filled with jealousy,

As they continued to listen to this address, they were becoming infuriated and began to grind their teeth at him.

Herodias' daughter came in and danced for them, and fascinated Herod and his guests. So the king said to the girl, "Ask me for anything you want, and I will give it to you." And he promised her on oath, "I will give you anything you ask for, up to half of my kingdom." She left the room and asked her mother, "What shall I ask him for?" And she answered, "The head of John the Baptist."

for from the inside, that is, from the hearts of men, designs for doing evil come, sexual immorality, stealing, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, licentiousness, envy, abusiveness, haughtiness, thoughtlessness. All these evils come from the inside of a man and make him foul."

For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, immorality, stealing, false witnessing, irreverent speech. These are the things that make a man foul, but eating with unwashed hands does not make a man foul."

Stop returning evil for evil to anyone. Always see to it that your affairs are right in the sight of everybody. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live in peace with everybody. Stop taking revenge on one another, beloved, but leave a place for God's anger, for the Scripture says, "Vengeance belongs to me; I will pay them back, says the Lord."read more.
Do the opposite. If your enemy is hungry, give him something to eat. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink, for if you act in this way, you will heap burning coals upon his head! Stop being conquered by evil, but keep on conquering evil with good.

Take care that none of you ever pays back evil for evil, but always keep looking for ways to show kindness to one another and everybody.

But if you continue to bite and eat one another, beware lest you are destroyed by one another.

for it is God Himself who is at work in you to help you desire it as well as do it. Practice doing everything without grumbling and disputing, so that you may prove to be blameless and spotless, faultless children of God in a crooked and perverted age, in which you shine as light-bearers in the world as you continue

But now you too must once for all put them all aside -- anger, rage, malice, and abusive, filthy talk from your lips.

and a slave of the Lord must not quarrel but must be gentle to everybody; he must be a skillful teacher, and not resentful under injuries.

But if you cherish bitter jealousy and rivalry in your hearts, stop being proud of it and stop being false to the standard of truth. This is not the kind of wisdom that comes down from above; no, it is earthly, human, demoniacal. For wherever jealousy and rivalry exist, there will be confusion and all sorts of evil practices.

So once for all get rid of all malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all sorts of slander,

"You have heard that it was said, 'You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, practice loving your enemies and praying for your persecutors, to prove that you are sons of your Father in heaven, for He makes His sun rise on bad as well as good people, and makes the rain come down on doers of right and of wrong alike.read more.
For if you practice loving only those who love you, what reward will you get? Do not even the tax-collectors practice that? And if you say 'Good morning' to your brothers only, what more than others are you doing?

And because he could not pay it, his master ordered him to be sold, yea, even his wife and children and all he had, and payment to be made. So the slave fell down at his feet and pleaded, 'Give me time, and I will pay you every cent of it.' And his master's heart was moved with pity, and he let the slave go free with his debt cancelled. "But that slave went out and found one of his fellow-slaves who owed him twenty dollars, and he caught him by the throat and began to choke him, demanding, 'Pay me what you owe me!' "And his fellow-slave fell down before him and pleaded, 'Give me time, and I will pay you.' But he refused and went out and had him put in jail until he should pay the debt. "When his fellow-slaves saw what had happened, they were greatly troubled, and went and reported all that happened to their master. Then his master called to him, and said, 'I cancelled all that huge debt of yours, because you pleaded with me to do so. Ought you not to have shown mercy to your fellow-slave, as I too had done for you?' And the master was enraged and turned him over to the official torturers, until he should pay the whole debt. This is the way my heavenly Father too will deal with you, if you do not, each one, heartily forgive your brother."

forbearing one another and freely forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; just as the Lord has freely forgiven you, so must you also do.
