Recall that I am your own flesh and blood.'" His mother's relatives spoke on his behalf to all the leaders of Shechem and reported his proposal. They paid him seventy silver shekels out of the temple of Baal-Berith. Abimelech then used the silver to hire some lawless, dangerous men as his followers. He went to his father's home in Ophrah and murdered his half-brothers, the seventy legitimate sons of Jerub-Baal, on one stone. Only Jotham, Jerub-Baal's youngest son, escaped, because he hid. All the leaders of Shechem and Beth Millo assembled and then went and made Abimelech king by the oak near the pillar in Shechem.

Jephthah said to the leaders of Gilead, "But you hated me and made me leave my father's house. Why do you come to me now, when you are in trouble?"

After him their relatives worked -- Binnui son of Henadad, head of a half-district of Keilah.

God repaid Abimelech for the evil he did to his father by murdering his seventy half-brothers.

But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord's brother.

Isn't this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And aren't his sisters here with us?" And so they took offense at him.

Now Jesus' mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not get near him because of the crowd.

(For not even his own brothers believed in him.)

But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then Jesus himself also went up, not openly but in secret.

So Jesus' brothers advised him, "Leave here and go to Judea so your disciples may see your miracles that you are performing.

All these continued together in prayer with one mind, together with the women, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.

Then Jesus' mother and his brothers came. Standing outside, they sent word to him, to summon him.

After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

"So now, please let your servant remain as my lord's slave instead of the boy. As for the boy, let him go back with his brothers.
