Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoever trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.
A foolish son is the calamity of his father: and the contentions of a wife are a continual dropping.
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not its own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

Saying, There was in a city a judge, who feared not God, neither regarded man. And there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, Avenge me of my adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;read more.
Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
And it came to pass when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed to death;
O my soul, come not thou into their secret; to their assembly, my honor, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will they digged down a wall.
