For, as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

From that time began Jesus to show to His disciples, that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and high-priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised up.

And, while they were assembled together in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men; and they will kill Him, and on the third day He will be raised up." And they were grieved exceedingly.

And, as they were coming down from the mountain, He charged them that they should tell no one what they saw, until the Son of Man should arise from the dead.

And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going before them. And they were being amazed: and those following Him were being terrified. And, again taking with Him the twelve, He began to tell them the things about to happen to Him: "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be delivered up to the high priests, and to the scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and will deliver Him up to the gentiles; and they will mock Him and will spit upon Him, and will scourge Him, and will kill Him; and after three days He will rise again."

And Jesus saith to them, "All ye will be made to stumble; because it has been written, 'I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered abroad.'

And, behold, two men were talking with Him, who, indeed, were Moses and Elijah; who, appearing in glory, were speaking of His departure which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." The Jews, therefore, said, "In forty-six years this temple was built, and wilt Thou raise it up in three days?" But He was speaking about the temple of His body.read more.

Jesus knew that they wished to ask Him, and He said to them, "Do ye inquire among yourselves about this that I said, 'A little while, and ye behold Me not, and again a little while, and ye will see Me!' Verily, verily, I say to you, that ye will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice: ye will be made sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy. A woman, when she is in travail, has sorrow, because her hour came; but, when she bears the child, she no longer remembers the anguish, because of the joy that a man was born into the world. And ye, therefore, now, indeed, have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one takes away from you.
