Where, then, the boasting! It is excluded. Through what kind of law? Of works? Nay! but through a law of faith: For we reckon that a man is to be declared righteous by faith, apart from works of law.

For, if Abraham by works was declared righteous, he hath whereof to boast; - nevertheless, not towards God, -

And, the low-born things of the world, and the things that are despised, hath God chosen, - and the things that are not, - that, the things that are, he might bring to nought;

For, by his favour, have ye been saved, through means of faith, and this hath come to pass - not from you, of God, the free-gift!
