But when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some sneered, but others said, "We will hear you again on this subject."

As Paul continued to make his defense, Festus shouted aloud, "You are going crazy, Paul! That great learning of yours is driving you crazy!"

And as Jesus was about to go up to Jerusalem, He took the twelve disciples aside, and said to them while on the road, "Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be turned over to the high priests and the scribes, and they will sentence Him to death, and turn Him over to the heathen to mock and flog and crucify, but on the third day He will rise again."

As they were walking along the road up to Jerusalem, Jesus was going on ahead of them, but they were dazed while those who were still following were afraid. Then again He took the Twelve aside and began to tell them what was going to befall Him. "Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be turned over to the high priests and scribes, and they will sentence Him to death, and will turn Him over to the heathen, and they will make sport of Him, and spit on Him, and flog Him, and kill Him, but three days after He will rise again."

Now He took the Twelve aside and said to them, "Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled. For He will be turned over to the heathen and sport made of Him, He will be insulted and spit upon, and then they will flog Him and kill Him, but on the third day He will rise again."

After that they spit in His face and hit Him with their fists, and others boxed His ears, saying, "Play the prophet, you Christ, and tell us who struck you."

And some of them started to spit on Him and to blindfold Him and to hit Him with their fists, and say to Him, "Now play the prophet!" Even the attendants took charge of Him with slaps at Him.

Then the men who held Him in custody flogged Him and made sport of Him, and after blindfolding Him they asked Him, "Play the prophet and tell us who it is that struck you!" And they continued to say many other abusive things to Him.

Then Herod and his bodyguard treated Him with contempt and made sport of Him and put a gorgeous robe on Him and sent Him back to Pilate.

Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the barracks, and gathered about Him the whole battalion. Then they stripped Him, and put a purple cloak on Him, and made a crown of thorns and set it on His head, and they put a stick in His hand, and kneeling before Him they made sport of Him, saying, "All hail, you king of the Jews!"read more.
And they spit on Him, and took the stick and kept hitting Him on the head. And when they had finished making sport of Him, they took off the cloak, and put His own clothes back on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.

Then the soldiers led Him away to a place inside the court yard, that is, of the governor's palace, and they called the whole battalion together. And they dressed Him in a purple robe and made a crown of thorns and crowned Him with it, and they began to shout at Him, "All hail, you king of the Jews!"read more.
And they kept hitting Him on the head with a stick, and kept spitting on Him, and on bending knees they kept doing Him homage. When they had finished making sport of Him, they took off the purple robe and put His own clothes on Him. Then they led Him out of the city to crucify Him.

And the high priests, too, made sport of Him, with the scribes and elders, and said, "He saved others but He cannot save Himself. He is the king of Israel, is He? Well, let Him come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him. He has put His trust in God; let God deliver Him now, if He cares for Him, for He said, 'I am the Son of God.'"read more.
Even the robbers who were crucified with Him made sport of Him in the same way.

The high priests too made sport of Him to one another with the scribes, and kept saying, "He saved others but He cannot save Himself! Let the Christ, the king of Israel, come down now from the cross, so that we may see it and believe!" Even the men who were crucified with Him made sport of Him.

Meanwhile, the people stood looking on. Even the members of the council were scoffing at Him and saying, "He saved others, let Him now save Himself, if He really is the Christ of God, His Chosen One!"

The soldiers also made sport of Him as they continued to come up and offer Him vinegar,

Do not be deceived anymore; God is not to be scoffed at. A person will reap just what he sows, whatever it is.
