And Jesus sitting over-against the treasury, beheld how the people cast mony into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
And the chief priests taking the pieces of silver, said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.
And being come into the house, they saw the young child, with Mary his mother; and falling down, they worshiped him. And opening their treasures, they presented to him gifts, gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses: Nor scrip for your journey, nor two coats, nor shoes, nor yet a staff:
Sell what ye have and give alms: provide yourselves purses which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
And he said to them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing?
And they said, Nothing. Then said he to them, But now he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip; and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.
This he said, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the purse, and bare what was put therein.
