19 Bible Verses about Not Praying

The LORD said to Moses, "Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward.

"As for you, do not pray for this people, or lift up a cry or prayer for them, and do not intercede with me, for I will not hear you.

"Therefore do not pray for this people, or lift up a cry or prayer on their behalf, for I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their trouble.

The LORD said to me: "Do not pray for the welfare of this people.

All the presidents of the kingdom, the prefects and the satraps, the counselors and the governors are agreed that the king should establish an ordinance and enforce an injunction, that whoever makes petition to any god or man for thirty days, except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions.

Then they came near and said before the king, concerning the injunction, "O king! Did you not sign an injunction, that anyone who makes petition to any god or man within thirty days except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?" The king answered and said, "The thing stands fast, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be revoked."

I said, 'Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not sought the favor of the LORD.' So I forced myself, and offered the burnt offering."

"Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of me, O Israel!

I was ready to be sought by those who did not ask for me; I was ready to be found by those who did not seek me. I said, "Here am I, here am I," to a nation that was not called by my name.

Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the LORD?

Have those who work evil no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call upon God?

There is no one who calls upon your name, who rouses himself to take hold of you; for you have hidden your face from us, and have made us melt in the hand of our iniquities.

All of them are hot as an oven, and they devour their rulers. All their kings have fallen, and none of them calls upon me.

Pour out your anger on the nations that do not know you, and on the kingdoms that do not call upon your name!

Pour out your wrath on the nations that know you not, and on the peoples that call not on your name, for they have devoured Jacob; they have devoured him and consumed him, and have laid waste his habitation.

"The godless in heart cherish anger; they do not cry for help when he binds them.

They do not cry to me from the heart, but they wail upon their beds; for grain and wine they gash themselves; they rebel against me.

Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.
