And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?"
Then one of the elders said to me, "Weep not; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals."
And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. And he opened the book, and found the place where it was written:
And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it. And I wept greatly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it.
And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals; for you were slain, and with your blood purchased men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.
He had a little scroll which was open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea, and his left foot on the land,
Then the voice which I had heard from heaven spoke to me again, saying, "Go, take the scroll which is open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land."
And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.
Then I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals. And I heard one of the four living creatures say, as with a voice of thunder, "Come!"
When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, "Come!"
When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come." And I looked, and behold, a black horse; and its rider had a pair of scales in his hand.
When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, "Come!"
When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained;
I looked when he opened the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood;
When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
