For if a man with a gold ring, dressed in fine clothes, comes to your meeting, and at the same time a poor man clad in dirty clothes, and you pay special attention to the man who wears the fine clothes, and say to him, "Sit here in this fine place," and say to the poor man, "Stand up, or sit there on the floor at my feet,"read more.

and he said to him, "You know that it is against the law for a Jew to associate with a foreigner or to visit one, but God has taught me not to call any man vulgar or ceremonially unclean; so I have come, since I was sent for, without any hesitation." Then Cornelius said, "Four days ago, about this hour, three o'clock in the afternoon, I was praying in my house, and all at once a man in dazzling clothing stood before me,read more.
and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your deeds of charity have been remembered by God. So send to Joppa and invite Simon, who is called Peter, to come over. He is being entertained at the house of a tanner named Simon, by the seashore.' So at once I sent for you, and you have been kind enough to come. So now we are all here in God's presence to listen to anything that the Lord has commanded you to say." Then Peter opened his mouth and said, "Now I really see that God shows no partiality, but in every nation the man who reveres God and practices doing right is acceptable to Him.

Some days after this Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the brothers in every town where we preached the Lord's message, to see how they are." I hope, with the approval of the Lord Jesus, soon to send Timothy to you, so that I too may be cheered on getting the news about you. Romans 9:6-24

But it is not that God's word has failed. For not everybody that is descended from Israel really belongs to Israel, nor are they all children of Abraham, because they are his descendants, but the promise was "In the line of Isaac your descendants will I be counted." That is, it is not Abraham's natural descendants who are God's children, but those who are made children by the promise are counted his true descendants.read more.
For this is the language of the promise, "About this time next year I will come back, and Sarah will have a son." Not only that but this too: There was Rebecca who was impregnated by our forefather Isaac. For even before the twin sons were born, and though they had done nothing either good or bad, that God's purpose in accordance with His choice might continue to stand, conditioned not on men's actions but on God's calling them, she was told, "The elder will be a slave to the younger." As the Scripture says, "Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated." What are we then to conclude? It is not that there is injustice in God, is it? Of course not! For He says to Moses, "I will have mercy on any man that I choose to have mercy on, and take pity on any man that I choose to take pity on." So one's destiny does not depend on his own willing or strenuous actions but on God's having mercy on him. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "I have raised you to your position for this very purpose of displaying my power in dealing with you, of announcing my name all over the earth." So He has mercy on any man that He chooses to, and He hardens any man that He chooses to harden. So you will ask me, "Why does He still find fault? For who can resist His will?" On the contrary, friend, who are you anyway that you would answer back to God? Can the clay that is molded ask the man who molds it, "Why did you make me like this?" Has not the potter the right with his clay to make of the same lump one vessel for ornamental purposes, another for degrading service? And what if God, though wishing to display His anger and make known His power, yet, has most patiently borne with the objects of His anger, already ripe for destruction, so as to make known the riches of His glory for the objects of His mercy, whom He prepared in ages past to share His glory -- even us whom He has called, not only from among the Jews but from among the heathen too?

Luke 9:51-56

Now as the time was coming to a head when He should be taken up to heaven, He firmly set His face to continue His journey to Jerusalem; so He sent messengers before Him. do you not make improper distinctions among yourselves and prove to be critics with evil motives? Listen, my dearly loved brothers. Has not God chosen the poor of the world to be rich in faith and to possess the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? But you, in contrast, have humiliated the poor man. Are not the rich men those who oppress you and drag you to court? Are not they the ones who scoff at the beautiful name you bear? But if you really observe the law of the King in accordance with the Scripture, "You must love your neighbor as you do yourself," you are doing right; but if you show partiality, you are committing sin, because you are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.
