Wherefore the king hearkened not to the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat. So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not to them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thy own house, David. So Israel departed to their tents. But as for the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

And Bath-sheba went to the king into the chamber: and the king was very old; and Abishag the Shunamite ministered to the king. And Bath-sheba bowed, and did obeisance to the king. There is no straw given to thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thy own people. But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go, and do sacrifice to the LORD. read more.
Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the number of bricks.

And it came to pass at the seven years' end, that the woman returned from the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry to the king for her house, and for her land.

And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed to her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land even till now.
