Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching for this purpose with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
And for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
I exhort therefore, that first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men;
For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:
And I set my face to the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.
We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfill all thy petitions.

Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give to us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father. And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.

And the young men that had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak to this people who spoke to thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter to us; thus shalt thou say to them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins. And now whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions. So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day. And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him; And spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions. Wherefore the king hearkened not to the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat. So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not to them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thy own house, David. So Israel departed to their tents. But as for the children of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
