But Peter responding said to Him, If all shall be offended in thee, I will never be offended. Jesus said to him, Truly I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock shall crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. And the name to that servant was Malchus.

Therefore these things being unquestionable, it is necessary that you become calm, and do nothing rashly.

I am astonished that you are so quickly removed from him who called you in the grace of Christ into another gospel;

For men will be lovers of themselves, moneylovers, arrogant, proud, blasphemous, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, without natural affections, covenant breakers, devilish, intemperate, furious, opposed to good, traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God;

And the city clerk having dismissed the multitudes, said, Ephesian men, for what one of men is there that does not know that the city of the Ephesians is a worshiper of the great goddess Diana, and of the statue having fallen down from Jupiter? Therefore these things being unquestionable, it is necessary that you become calm, and do nothing rashly.

Lay hands quickly on no one, and be not partaker of other men's sins.

traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power of the same: and from these turn away.

Know, my beloved brethren; but let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow toward wrath:

For which one of you, wishing to build a tower, does not first sitting down count the cost; if he has unto sufficiency? Lest he having laid the foundation, and being unable to complete it, all who see it may begin to mock him, saying, that this man began to build, and was not able to complete it.read more.
Or what king, going forth to engage in war with another king, will not first sitting down counsel if he is able with ten thousand to meet him who is coming against him, with twenty thousand? But if not, while he is yet a great way off, sending an embassy, he asks for those things which appertain to peace.
