And he appointed twelve to be with him, and whom he might send forth to preach, and to have authority to cast out demons. And he appointed the twelve,
And when it was day, he called to him his disciples; and he chose from them twelve, whom he also named apostles;
whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
Then, after they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
And having appointed for them elders in every church, they prayed with fasting, and commended them to the Lord, in whom they believed.
This charge I commit to thee, my child Timothy, in accordance with the directions of the prophets before given to thee, that thou mayst in them war the good warfare,
Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
Lay hands hastily on no one, neither share in other mens sins. Keep thyself pure.
For which cause I remind thee to stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the laying on of my hands;
For this cause I left thee behind in Crete, that thou shouldst set in order the things that are wanting, and appoint elders in every city, as I directed thee;

but we speak Gods wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom, which God determined on before the world was, for our glory;
Do ye not know, that they who minister in the offerings of the temple live from the temple? that they who serve at the altar share with the altar? In like manner also did the Lord ordain that they who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.
For by grace ye have been saved, through faith; and this is not of yourselves; it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any one should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God before prepared that we should walk in them.
and the very commandment whose design was life, I found to issue in death.
Let every one submit to the authorities that are over him; for there is no authority which is not from God: and the authorities which exist have been ordained by God. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, if it abide not in the vine, so neither can ye, unless ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches. These things have I spoken to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full. This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do what I command you. No longer do I call you servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things which I have heard from my Father, I have made known to you. Ye did not choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that ye should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever ye ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
whereunto I was appointed a herald and an apostle, (I speak the truth, I lie not,) a teacher of the gentiles in faith and truth.

Him God raised up on the third day, and caused him to be manifested, not to all the people, but to witnesses before appointed by God, to ourselves, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead; and he commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is he who hath been appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. To him all the prophets bear witness, that through his name every one that believeth in him shall receive forgiveness of sins.
