After this Job opened his mouth and cursed his day.
Let the day perish in which I was born and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.
Why did I not die from the womb? Why did I not give up the spirit when I came out of the belly?
Cursed be the day in which I was born; do not let the day in which my mother bore me be blessed.
Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them curses me.
Why then hast thou brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had given up the spirit and no eye had seen me!
Why did I come forth out of the womb? To see labour and sorrow that my days should be consumed with shame?
Behold, the pain of my iniquity has caused me to writhe; my mother conceived me so that sin might be removed from me.
They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
A good name is better than precious ointment and the day of death than the day of one's birth.
