I will also take care that after I am gone you will be able at any time to call these things to mind. For they were no fictitious stories that we followed when we informed you of the power of our Lord Jesus Christ and of his coming, but we had been eye-witnesses of his majesty.

For this reason I would remind you to rekindle the divine gift that you received when I laid my hands upon you.
Do not neglect the gift you have, that was given you with predictions of your work, when the elders laid their hands upon you.
But, just to refresh your memories, I have written you pretty boldly on some points, because of the favor God has shown me
This is why I have sent Timothy to you. He is a dear child of mine, in the service of the Lord, and one on whom you can depend, and he will help you to keep in mind my methods in the service of Christ Jesus, which I follow everywhere in every church.

Remind men to accept and obey the constituted authorities, to be ready for any useful service, to abuse nobody, to be peaceable and reasonable, showing perfect gentleness to everyone.
