and was convicted of his transgression; the dumb brute, speaking with man's voice, reprimanded the madness of the prophet.

Besides, to this you were called; for even Christ suffered for us, leaving us a pattern, that you should follow his footsteps; who did not sin, neither was guile found in his mouth; who, when he was reviled, did not revile in return; when he suffered he did not threaten, but committed his cause to him who judges righteously-

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, who is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;

saying, Injure not the earth, nor the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God, in their foreheads.

The Lord does not delay his promise in the manner some account delaying; but he exercises long-suffering toward us, not desiring that any should perish, but that all should come to reformation.

"For he who is desirous to enjoy life, and to see good days, let him restrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.
