He that reproves a scoffer gets for himself shame: and he that rebukes a wicked man gets himself injury. Reprove not a scoffer, lest he hate you: rebuke a wise man, and he will love you.
Smite a scoffer, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that has understanding, and he will understand knowledge.
When the scoffer is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.
Cast out the scoffer, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.
I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: Yet not entirely with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must you needs go out of the world. And such were some of you: but you are washed, but you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
