Now therefore, what have I here, says the LORD, that my people are taken away for nothing? they that rule over them make them to wail, says the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.

O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme your name forever?

But now they that are younger than I hold me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.

Are there not mockers with me? and does not my eye continue in their provocation?

Bear with me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.

And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword.

But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed at us, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that you do? will you rebel against the king?

All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,

But in my adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not: With hypocritical mockers at feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.

You make us a strife unto our neighbors: and our enemies laugh among themselves.

Remember, Lord, the reproach of your servants; how I do bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people; With which your enemies have reproached, O LORD; with which they have reproached the footsteps of your anointed.

The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not turned from your law.

O LORD, you have deceived me, and I was deceived: you are stronger than I, and have prevailed: I am in derision daily, everyone mocks me.

I was a derision to all my people; and their song all the day.

Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear you again of this matter.

And as he thus spoke for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, you are beside yourself; much learning does make you mad.

And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

And they were on the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things should happen unto him, Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles: And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully treated, and spit on: And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others struck him with the palms of their hands, Saying, Prophesy unto us, you Christ, Who is he that struck you?

And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the guards did strike him with the palms of their hands.

And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and struck him. And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that struck you? And many other things blasphemously spoke they against him.

And Herod with his men of war despised him, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!read more.
And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and struck him on the head. And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off of him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.

And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they called together the whole band. And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews!read more.
And they struck him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshiped him. And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. This is the word that the LORD has spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion has despised you, and laughed you to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you. Proud and haughty scoffer is his name, who deals in arrogant pride.

Cast out the scoffer, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

He that reproves a scoffer gets for himself shame: and he that rebukes a wicked man gets himself injury.

Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.

A scoffer loves not one that reproves him: neither will he go unto the wise.

How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? and the scoffers delight in their scoffing, and fools hate knowledge? Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. But you have ignored all my counsel, and would have none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear comes;

A wise son hears his father's instruction: but a scoffer hears not rebuke.

Smite a scoffer, and the simple will beware: and reprove one that has understanding, and he will understand knowledge.

Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful.

A scoffer seeks wisdom, and finds it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understands.

Fools make a mockery of sin: but among the righteous there is favor.

The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scoffer is an abomination to men.

Against whom do you make sport? against whom do you open your mouth wide, and stick out the tongue? are you not children of transgression, offspring of falsehood,

In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scoffers.

If you are wise, you shall be wise for yourself: but if you scoff, you alone shall bear it.

Whosoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker: and he that is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.

An ungodly witness scorns judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity. Judgments are prepared for scoffers and stripes for the back of fools.

When the scoffer is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.

The eye that mocks at his father, and despises to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young vultures shall eat it.

Now therefore be not mockers, lest your bonds be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a destruction, even determined upon the whole earth.

For the ruthless one is brought to nothing, and the scoffer is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:

This shall they have because of their pride, because they have reproached and boasted themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts. The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the coasts of the nations.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.
