Ask thee a sign from the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the hight above.

And he said to him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then show me a sign that thou talkest with me.

Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?

The Pharisees also and the Sadducees came, and, tempting, desired him that he would show them a sign from heaven. And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking from him a sign from heaven, tempting him. And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek for a sign? Verily I say to you, There shall no sign be given to this generation.

Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. But he answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh for a sign, and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah.

And when the people were assembled in crowds, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet.

And others tempting him, sought from him a sign from heaven.

And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rising in the west, immediately ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is. And when ye perceive the south wind blowing, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass. Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky, and of the earth; but how is it, that ye do not discern this time?

And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he had been for a long time, desirous to see him, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to see some miracle done by him.

Then answered the Jews, and said to him, What sign showest thou to us, seeing that thou doest these things?

Then said Jesus to him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

They said therefore to him, What sign showest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek wisdom:
