Ask thee a sign from the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the hight above.

And when the people were assembled in crowds, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of Jonah the prophet.
And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rising in the west, immediately ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is. And when ye perceive the south wind blowing, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass. Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky, and of the earth; but how is it, that ye do not discern this time?
And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he had been for a long time, desirous to see him, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to see some miracle done by him.
Then answered the Jews, and said to him, What sign showest thou to us, seeing that thou doest these things?
Then said Jesus to him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
They said therefore to him, What sign showest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
