Then the Parisees and Saducees came and tempting, desired him to shew them a sign from heaven. He answering said to them, In the evening ye say, It will be fair weather; for the sky is red: And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day; for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye know to discern the face of the sky: can ye not discern the signs of the times?read more.
A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh a sign; but there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them and departed.

And the Pharisees came forth and questioned with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him. And sighing deeply in his spirit, he said, Why doth this generation seek a sign? Verily I say to you, There shall no sign be given to this generation.

Then certain of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. And he answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh a sign, and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah.

And the multitudes being gathered thick together, he said, This is an evil generation: it seeketh a sign; but no sign shall be given it, save the sign of Jonah.

And others tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven.

And he said to the people also, When ye see a cloud rising out of the west, straitway ye say, There cometh a heavy shower, and so it is. And when ye find the south wind blowing, ye say, There will be sultry heat; and it is so. Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the earth and of the sky: how do ye not discern this season?

And Herod seeing Jesus was exceeding glad; for he had been long desirous to see him, because he had heard many things of him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by him.

Then answered the Jews and said to him, What sign shewest thou us, seeing thou dost these things?

Jesus said to him, Unless ye see signs and wonders, ye will in no wise believe.

They said therefore to him, What sign dost thou then, that we may see and believe thee? What dost thou work?

For whereas the Jews demand signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom, We preach Christ crucified,
