For while he lived, he counted himself a happy man; and so long as thou doest well unto thyself, men will speak good of thee.

And in my prosperity I said, "I shall never be removed." And why? Thou, LORD, of thy goodness, hast made my hill so strong.

and he thought in himself saying, 'What shall I do? Because I have no room where to bestow my fruits.' And he said, 'This will I do. I will destroy my barns, and build greater: and therein will I gather all my fruits, and my goods: and I will say to my soul: Soul, thou hast much goods laid up in store for many years, take thine ease: eat, drink and be merry.'

But my people would not hear my voice; and Israel would not obey me. So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust, and let them follow their own imaginations.

and in all deceivableness of unrighteousness, among them that perish: because they received not the love of the truth, that they might have been saved. And therefore God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe lies:

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are; extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or as this publican.

so that when he heareth the words of this curse, he bless himself in his heart saying, 'I shall have peace; I will therefore work after the lust of mine own heart, that the drunken may perish with the thirsty.'

For he hath said in his heart, "Tush, I shall never be cast down; there shall no harm happen unto me."

"Not all they that say unto me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter in to the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth my father's will which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not in thy name prophesied? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name have done many miracles?'

And see that you think not to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father': for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

When the good man of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, ye shall begin to stand without, and to knock at the door saying, 'Lord, Lord, open unto us.' And he shall answer and say unto you, 'I know you not whence ye are.' Then shall ye begin to say, 'We have eaten, and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.'

They have denied the LORD, and said, 'It is not he. Tush, there shall no misfortune come upon us; we shall see neither sword nor hunger.'

"Come," say they, "I will fetch wine, so shall we fill ourselves, that we may be drunken. And do tomorrow, like as today; yea, and much more."
