And do this, knowing the season, that it is high time now to awake out of sleep; for salvation is nearer to us now, then when we first believed. The night is far spent; the day is at hand, let us therefore put off the works of darkness, and put on the armour of light.
Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, which are ready to die; for I have not found thy works compleat before my God.
(Behold I come as a thief. Happy is he that watcheth and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.)
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing; but the flesh is weak.
But of that day and hour knoweth no one, no, not the angels that are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take heed; watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. Therefore let us not sleep as the others, but let us awake and keep awake. For they that sleep, sleep in the night, and they that are drunken are drunken in the night. But let us who are of the day keep awake, having put on the breast-plate of faith and love, and for an helmet the hope of salvation.
