But when you pray, go into your own room, and shut the door, and pray to your Father who is unseen, and your Father who sees what is secret will reward you.
Yet the news about him spread more and more, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be cured of their diseases. But Jesus himself would retire into the desert and pray.
It was in those days that he went up on the mountain to pray, and passed the whole night in prayer to God.

The apostles rejoined Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught.
And he went on a little way, and threw himself on his face, and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass by me. Yet not as I please but as you do!"
Early in the morning, long before daylight, he got up and left the house and went off to a lonely spot, and prayed there.
He immediately had his disciples get into the boat and cross before him to the other side toward Bethsaida, while he was dismissing the crowd. When he had taken leave of the people he went up the hill to pray.
