The wicked one lies in wait for the righteous
and seeks to kill him;
Joseph remembered his dreams about them and said to them, “You are spies. You have come to see the weakness of the land.”
Then Joseph said to them, “I have spoken: ‘You are spies!’
Send one from among you to get your brother. The rest of you will be imprisoned so that your words can be tested to see if they are true. If they are not, then as surely as Pharaoh lives, you are spies!”
“We are all sons of one man. We are honest; your servants are not spies.”

So the men Moses sent to scout out the land, and who returned and incited the entire community to complain about him by spreading a negative report about the land—
That’s what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.
I was 40 years old when Moses the Lord’s servant sent me from Kadesh-barnea to scout the land, and I brought back an honest report.
After Moses sent spies to Jazer, Israel captured its villages and drove out the Amorites who were there.
Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two men as spies from the Acacia Grove, saying, “Go and scout the land, especially Jericho.” So they left, and they came to the house of a woman, a prostitute named Rahab, and stayed there. Joshua said to the two men who had scouted the land, “Go to the prostitute’s house and bring the woman out of there, and all who are with her, just as you promised her.”
However, Joshua spared Rahab the prostitute, her father’s household, and all who belonged to her, because she hid the men Joshua had sent to spy on Jericho, and she lives in Israel to this day.
By faith Rahab the prostitute received the spies in peace and didn’t perish with those who disobeyed.
Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth-aven, east of Bethel, and told them, “Go up and scout the land.” So the men went up and scouted Ai.
So the Danites sent out five brave men from all their clans, from Zorah and Eshtaol, to scout out the land and explore it. They told them, “Go and explore the land.”They came to the hill country of Ephraim as far as the home of Micah and spent the night there.

They watched closely and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, so they could catch Him in what He said, to hand Him over to the governor’s rule and authority.
This issue arose because of false brothers smuggled in, who came in secretly to spy on the freedom that we have in Christ Jesus, in order to enslave us.
