And his disciples asked him, saying: Rabbi, who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered: Neither this man sinned, nor his parents; but that the works of God might be made manifest in him.
And fear not them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. But rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
When he was reviled, he did not revile again; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but committed himself to him that judges righteously.
Wherefore, let those also who suffer according to the will of God, by doing good, commit their souls to him as to a faithful Creator.
Cast all your cares on him, for he cares for you.
Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped your fields, which has been unjustly withheld by you, cries out: and the cries of those who have reaped, have entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts.
They shall hunger no more, nor shall they thirst any more, nor shall the sun fall upon them, nor any heat.
And he will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death; neither shall there be any more sorrow, nor crying, nor pain; for the former things have passed away.
Then will he say to those on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry, and you gave me no food; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; I was a stranger, and you took me not to your houses; naked, and you did not clothe me; I was sick, and in prison, and you did not visit me.read more.
Then they also will answer, and say: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to thee? Then will he answer them, saying: Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me. And these shall go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
For he shall have judgment without mercy, who has shown no mercy. Mercy glories over judgment.
And if the righteous man is hardly saved, where shall the ungodly man and the sinner appear?
Reward her as she has rewarded you, and render back to her double, according to her works: in the cup that she has mixed, mix for her double. As much glory and voluptuousness as she has given to herself, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she says in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
