Now it was told Saul that David had come to Keilah. And Saul said, "God has given him into my hand, for he has shut himself in by entering a town that has gates and bars."
By command of the LORD they gave him the city that he asked, Timnath-serah in the hill country of Ephraim. And he rebuilt the city and settled in it.
And he said to them, "Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there.

then the elders of his city shall send and take him from there, and hand him over to the avenger of blood, so that he may die.

And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,

And Saul said to his servant, "Well said; come, let us go." So they went to the city where the man of God was. In every city of Judah he made high places to make offerings to other gods, provoking to anger the LORD, the God of his fathers.
So the two of them went on until they came to Bethlehem. And when they came to Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them. And the women said, "Is this Naomi?"

you shall surely put the inhabitants of that city to the sword, devoting it to destruction, all who are in it and its cattle, with the edge of the sword.
For you have made the city a heap, the fortified city a ruin; the foreigners' palace is a city no more; it will never be rebuilt.
and you shall attack every fortified city and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree and stop up all springs of water and ruin every good piece of land with stones."
And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart.
