And while Peter was meditating on the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, men are seeking thee; but arise, and go down, and go with them, without scruple; for I have sent them. And Peter went down to the men and said, Behold, I am he whom ye are seeking; for what cause have ye come? And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for thee to his house, and to hear words from thee. Then he called them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow he arose and went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

But Peter rehearsed the matter to them in order from the beginning, saying, I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision, a sort of vessel descending, as it were a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners, and it came even to me; on which fixing my eyes, I observed, and saw the fourfooted beasts of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the creeping things, and the birds of the air.read more.

And I remembered the word of the Lord, that he said, John indeed baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit. Since then God gave the like gift to them as to us, on believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I, that I could withstand God? And when they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, So then to the gentiles also God hath granted repentance unto life.

And it came to pass after my return to Jerusalem, while I was praying in the temple, that I fell into a trance, and saw him saying to me, Make haste, and go quickly out of Jerusalem; for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me. And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned, and beat in every synagogue, those that believed in thee;read more.
