But I say unto you, That you resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
And unto him that smites you on the one cheek offer also the other; and he that takes away your cloak forbid not to take your coat also.
See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
Finally, be all of one mind, having compassion one with another, love as brethren, be tender hearted, be courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but on the contrary blessing; knowing that you are unto this called, that you should inherit a blessing. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you, and persecute you;
And labor, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure it:
Therefore if your enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirsts, give him drink: for in so doing you shall heap coals of fire on his head.
If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink:
And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answer you the high priest so? Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why strike me?
