But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man that had not put on a wedding-garment, and saith to him,

And on the third day after, there was a marriage at Cana of Galilee: and the mother of Jesus was there. And Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding.

and sent his servants to call those that were invited to the wedding: and they would not come. Then he sent other servants, saying, Tell them that are invited, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready; come to the wedding. But they slighted him, and went away, one to his field and another to his merchandize:read more.
and others seized his servants, and shamefully abused them, and slew them. And when the king heard of it, he was highly provoked, and sent his troops, and destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city. Then saith he to his servants, The feast is ready, but they that were invited were not worthy of it: go therefore into the public streets, and as many as ye meet with invite to the wedding. And those servants went out into the high-ways, and brought in all they met with, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests.

When thou art invited by any one to a wedding, do not sit down in the uppermost place, least one more honorable than thou be invited by him; and he who invited thee and him, should come and say to thee, Give place to this person, and then thou begin with shame to take the lowest place. But when thou art invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, that, when he who invited thee cometh, he may say to thee, Friend, go up higher: then wilt thou have honor before them that sit at table with thee:

And Jesus said unto them, Can the bridemen fast, when the bridegroom is with them? while the bridegroom is with them, they cannot fast:

And Jesus said unto them, Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn, while the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then they will fast.

And He said unto them, Can ye make those of the bride-chamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?
