And when the king heard of it, he was highly provoked, and sent his troops, and destroyed those murderers, and burnt their city. Then saith he to his servants, The feast is ready, but they that were invited were not worthy of it: go therefore into the public streets, and as many as ye meet with invite to the wedding. And those servants went out into the high-ways, and brought in all they met with, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests. But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man that had not put on a wedding-garment, and saith to him, Friend, how camest thou in here without a wedding-garment? and he was struck speechless. Then said the king to his attendants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him up, and throw him out into the darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of the teeth: for there are many called, but few approved.
