And he went into the temple, and began to cast out those who sold and bought in the temple, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of those who sold the doves; and he suffered no one to carry any vessel through the temple. And he taught, and said to them, Is it not written, "My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations? but ye have made it a den of robbers."

My brethren, hold not the faith of our Lord of glory, Jesus Christ, with respect of persons. And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, said to them, Ye have brought to me this man, as one that perverteth the people; and behold, I have examined him before you, and have found nothing in this man to sustain the charges which ye bring against him. No, nor yet Herod; for he hath sent him back to us; and lo! nothing deserving death hath been done by him.read more.
I will therefore chastise, and release him. Now it was necessary for him to release to them one at the feast. And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas; who, for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, had been cast into prison. And he released him who for sedition and murder had been cast into prison, whom they asked for; but Jesus he delivered up to their will.

For, as it is written, "the name of God is on your account blasphemed among the gentiles."
