'Adulteress' in the Bible
‘If there is a man who commits adultery with another man’s wife, one who commits adultery with his friend’s wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
To deliver you from the strange woman,From the adulteress who flatters with her words;
For the lips of an adulteress drip honeyAnd smoother than oil is her speech;
For why should you, my son, be exhilarated with an adulteressAnd embrace the bosom of a foreigner?
To keep you from the evil woman,From the smooth tongue of the adulteress.
For on account of a harlot one is reduced to a loaf of bread,And an adulteress hunts for the precious life.
That they may keep you from an adulteress,From the foreigner who flatters with her words.
The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit;He who is cursed of the Lord will fall into it.
You adulteress wife, who takes strangers instead of her husband!
Then the Lord said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by her husband, yet an adulteress, even as the Lord loves the sons of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love raisin cakes.”
So then, if while her husband is living she is joined to another man, she shall be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is not an adulteress though she is joined to another man.
