'Amid' in the Bible
“Then I would still have consolation,And I would jump for joy amid unsparing pain,That I have not denied or hidden the words of the Holy One.
“As through a wide breach they come,Amid the crash [of falling walls] they roll on [over me].
The Lord also thundered in the heavens,And the Most High uttered His voice,Hailstones and coals of fire.
God has ascended amid shouting,The Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
And the Lord will make His majestic voice heard,And show the descending of His arm [striking] in [His] fierce anger,And in the flame of a devouring fire,In the crashing sound of heavy rain, cloudburst, and hailstones.
Judah has gone into exile under afflictionAnd under harsh servitude;She dwells among the [pagan] nations,But she has found no rest;All her pursuers have overtaken herIn the midst of [her] distress.
so that you [Judah] will bear your humiliation and disgrace, and be [thoroughly] ashamed for all [the wickedness] that you have done to console and comfort them.
“So I will send a fire [of war, conquest, and destruction] upon MoabAnd it shall devour the strongholds of Kerioth;And Moab shall die amid tumult and uproar,With war cries and shouts of alarm and the sound of the trumpet.
