'Baby' in the Bible
But the Lord asked Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Can I really have a baby when I’m old?’
Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth so You should tell me, ‘Carry them at your breast, as a nursing woman carries a baby,’ to the land that You swore to give their fathers?
Please don’t let her be like a dead baby whose flesh is half eaten away when he comes out of his mother’s womb.”
Then Nathan went home.The Lord struck the baby that Uriah’s wife had borne to David, and he became ill.
On the seventh day the baby died. But David’s servants were afraid to tell him the baby was dead. They said, “Look, while the baby was alive, we spoke to him, and he wouldn’t listen to us. So how can we tell him the baby is dead? He may do something desperate.”
When David saw that his servants were whispering to each other, he guessed that the baby was dead. So he asked his servants, “Is the baby dead?”“He is dead,” they replied.

He answered, “While the baby was alive, I fasted and wept because I thought, ‘Who knows? The Lord may be gracious to me and let him live.’
One woman said, “Please my lord, this woman and I live in the same house, and I had a baby while she was in the house.
On the third day after I gave birth, she also had a baby and we were alone. No one else was with us in the house; just the two of us were there.
The woman whose son was alive spoke to the king because she felt great compassion for her son. “My lord, give her the living baby,” she said, “but please don’t have him killed!”But the other one said, “He will not be mine or yours. Cut him in two!”
The king responded, “Give the living baby to the first woman, and don’t kill him. She is his mother.”
“Will I bring a baby to the point of birthand not deliver it?”says the Lord;“or will I who deliver, close the womb?”says your God.
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped inside her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
For you see, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped for joy inside me!
This will be the sign for you: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in cloth and lying in a feeding trough.”
They hurried off and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby who was lying in the feeding trough.
