'Bewildered' in the Bible
When Jesus had finished [speaking] these words [on the mountain], the crowds were astonished and overwhelmed at His teaching;
The men wondered in amazement, saying, “What kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
And when the demon was driven out [by Jesus], the mute man spoke; and the crowds wondered in amazement, saying, “Never before has anything like this [miracle] been seen in Israel.”
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were bewildered and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
All the people wondered in amazement, and said, “Could this be the Son of David (the Messiah)?”
And after coming to [Nazareth] His hometown, He began teaching them in their synagogue, and they were astonished, and said, “Where did this Man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers [what is the source of His authority]?
When the disciples heard this, they were completely astonished and bewildered, saying, “Then who can be saved [from the wrath of God]?”
The disciples were amazed and bewildered by His words. But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how difficult it is [for those who place their hope and confidence in riches] to enter the kingdom of God!
Now they were on the road going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking on ahead of them; and they were perplexed [at what Jesus had said], and those who were following were alarmed and afraid. And again He took the twelve [disciples] aside and began telling them what was going to happen to Him,
All who heard Him were amazed by His intelligence and His understanding and His answers.
Now Herod the Tetrarch heard of all that was going on; and he was bewildered because of its being said by some that John had come back to life,
“Then there will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and there will be anguish on the earth among nations bewildered by the roaring sea and waves.
And when this sound occurred, the crowd came together, and were bewildered because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language.
And they were beside themselves with amazement and were greatly perplexed, saying one to another, “What could this mean?”
They were paying attention to him because for a long time he had mystified and dazzled them with his magic.
Saul, however, gained more and more influence, and as for the Jews living in Damascus, he bewildered them with his proofs that Jesus is the Christ.
For I do not understand my own actions [I am baffled and bewildered by them]. I do not practice what I want to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate [and yielding to my human nature, my worldliness—my sinful capacity].
Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test you [that is, to test the quality of your faith], as though something strange or unusual were happening to you.
