'Bitterness' in the Bible
Samuel said, “Bring me Agag king of Amalek.”Agag came to him trembling, for he thought, “Certainly the bitterness of death has come.”
Then Abner called out to Joab: “Must the sword devour forever? Don’t you realize this will only end in bitterness? How long before you tell the troops to stop pursuing their brothers?”
Therefore I will not restrain my mouth.I will speak in the anguish of my spirit;I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

All bitterness, anger and wrath, shouting and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice.
Make sure that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble and by it, defiling many.
