'Deceived' in the Bible
I said, “Oh no, Lord God, You have certainly deceived this people and Jerusalem, by announcing, ‘You will have peace,’ while a sword is at our throats.”
You deceived me, Lord, and I was deceived. You seized me and prevailed.I am a laughingstock all the time;everyone ridicules me.
For I have heard the gossip of many people,“Terror is on every side!Report him; let’s report him!”Everyone I trusted watches for my fall.“Perhaps he will be deceivedso that we might prevail against himand take our vengeance on him.”
As to the terror you cause, your presumptuous heart has deceived you.You who live in the clefts of the rock, you who occupy the mountain summit, though you elevate your nest like the eagle, even from there I will bring you down. This is the Lord’s declaration.
