'Defeated' in the Bible

When they approached the Israelite camp, the Israelites rose up and struck down the Moabites, who then ran from them. The Israelites thoroughly defeated Moab.

Joram crossed over to Zair with all his chariots. The Edomites, who had surrounded him, attacked at night and defeated him and his chariot officers. The Israelite army retreated to their homeland.

He joined Ahab's son Joram in a battle against King Hazael of Syria at Ramoth Gilead in which the Syrians defeated Joram.

In those days the Lord began to reduce the size of Israel. Hazael defeated the Israelites throughout their territory:

Judah was defeated by Israel, and everybody fled to their own tents.

He defeated the Philistines as far as Gaza and its borders, from watchtower to fortified city.
