'Desolation' in the Bible
Yahweh of hosts [said] in my ears: {Surely} many houses shall become a desolation, large and beautiful [ones] without inhabitant.
Look! The day of Yahweh [is] coming, cruel and wrath and [the] burning [of] anger, to make the earth a desolation, and he will destroy its sinners from it.
On that day, {its fortified cities} will be like the {abandonment of the wooded place and the summit}, which they deserted because of the children of Israel; and there will be desolation.
Desolation is left in the city; [the] gate is crushed [into] a state of ruin.
It shall no longer be said of you, "Forsaken," and it shall no longer be said of your land, "Desolation!" but {you will} be called "My Delight [Is] In Her," and your land, "Married," for Yahweh delights in you, and your land shall be married.
{Your holy cities} have become a wilderness; Zion has become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
