'Devour' in the Bible
They have dealt treacherously against Jehovah; for they havebegotten strange children: now shall the new moon devour them, with their allotted possessions.
They are all hot as an oven, and devour their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.
For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.
and the sword shall turn about in his cities, and shall consume his bars, and devour them, because of their own counsels.
I will meet them as a bear bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the covering of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lioness: the beast of the field shall tear them.
