'Gates' in the Bible
Then her gates will lament and mourn;deserted, she will sit on the ground. >
Lift up a banner on a barren mountain.Call out to them.Wave your hand, and they will gothrough the gates of the nobles.
Wail, you gates! Cry out, city!Tremble with fear, all Philistia!For a cloud of dust is coming from the north,and there is no one missing from the invader’s ranks.

I will make your fortifications out of rubies,your gates out of sparkling stones,and all your walls out of precious stones.
Your gates will always be open;they will never be shut day or nightso that the wealth of the nationsmay be brought into you,with their kings being led in procession.
Violence will never again be heard of in your land;devastation and destructionwill be gone from your borders.But you will name your walls salvationand your gates, praise.
Go out, go out through the gates;prepare a way for the people!Build it up, build up the highway;clear away the stones!Raise a banner for the peoples.
