'Grieve' in the Bible

I grieve for you, Jonathan, my brother.You were such a friend to me.Your love for me was more wonderfulthan the love of women.

Then he said to them, “Go and eat what is rich, drink what is sweet, and send portions to those who have nothing prepared, since today is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, because the joy of the Lord is your stronghold.”

And the Levites quieted all the people, saying, “Be still, since today is holy. Do not grieve.”

These two things have happened to you:devastation and destruction,famine and sword.Who will grieve for you?How can I comfort you?

ד DaletThe roads to Zion mourn,for no one comes to the appointed festivals.All her gates are deserted;her priests groan,her young women grieve,and she herself is bitter.

ח KhetThe Lord determined to destroythe wall of Daughter Zion.He stretched out a measuring lineand did not restrain Himself from destroying.He made the ramparts and walls grieve;together they waste away.

Grieve like a young woman dressed in sackcloth,mourning for the husband of her youth.

They drink wine by the bowlfuland anoint themselves with the finest oilsbut do not grieve over the ruin of Joseph.

I fear that when I come my God will again humiliate me in your presence, and I will grieve for many who sinned before and have not repented of the moral impurity, sexual immorality, and promiscuity they practiced.

And don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit. You were sealed by Him for the day of redemption.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.
